‘Quit With Us’ helps North West work smart

Smokefree North West is co-ordinating the implementation of a web based region wide database, purchased in partnership with the Sub-regional Tobacco Alliances, to be called ‘Quit With Us’.

Despite the North West’s success in achieving the country’s second highest quit rate, local stop smoking services have not had robust compatible systems in place to record accurate activity and outcome data and support customer relationship management.

PCTs will no longer be restricted to one person entering data on a system and will be allowed to enable staff at multiple locations to access the system over the internet and to view clients’ progress in real time. But at the same time data security and client confidentiality will be assured by providing users with levels of access to suit the needs of their role.

Quit With Us will be able to generate mail merge letters and contact clients by text message.

It will also integrate with the National Quit Line and there is scope to develop Quit With US further and integrate with GP systems in the future.

The new database has been commissioned from AN Computing, after a competitive process. AN Computing has an impressive track record in delivering systems of this type to the NHS. Their portfolio includes the national surveillance systems for MRSA, MSSA and CDIF and they already supply the smoking cessation database in use at Liverpool and Knowsley PCTs.

‘The AN Computing programme for the implementation and management of the project, the functionality of Quit With Us, including reporting and their approach to future planning/proofing far exceeded those of their competitors,’ says Tina Williams, performance improvement and delivery manager at Smokefree North West.
